OVERVIEW Hidama is a Japanese single malt whiskey. It literally means “spirit of fire”. In Japanese folklore, Onibis are a kind of spirit shaped by fire. The Hidamas are one of them. CHALLENGE Create an original and qualitative design that refers to the spiritual world. SOLUTION The spirit of Japanese know-how is reflected in a refined and sophisticated label. Its shape, the use of calligraphy and selected textures recall the prayers placed in temples, while bringing together the main information. The design evokes this belonging to the spiritual world, with a lantern shape, used to communicate with the spirits. In fact, the bottle has a light at the bottom, allowing it to actually be used as a lantern. The box has also been the subject of attention focused on art and finesse thanks to subtle materials highlighting an illustration inspired by traditional prints representing one of these hidamas.
